About Innodel
The COVID-19 pandemic and the Fourth Industrial Revolution have brought significant changes to higher education. More universities, beyond traditional open and distance learning (ODL) institutions, have adopted online or blended learning approaches. Even after the pandemic, many continue to use these methods. Additionally, various technologies have been developed to enable more flexible online learning experiences. Augmented and virtual reality enhance the immersive nature of learning, while generative artificial intelligence offers opportunities for both teachers and learners to create texts, images, and even videos.
Open, distance, and flexible learning has improved education participation rates, particularly in developing countries. Learning can now take place regardless of physical barriers, contributing to greater inclusivity in education. However, institutions offering open, distance, and flexible learning still face challenges. Government funding is decreasing, student retention rates are low, and many learners report feelings of isolation and neglect.
The main theme of the 5th INNODEL, SINAU, embraces the values of our ancestors—viewing learning as a means to gain meaning, achieve success, and contribute to society.
